چکیده

We present new evolutionary models for Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) progenitors, where we include massstripping effect on a main-sequence (MS) or slightly evolved companion star by winds from a mass-accreting white dwarf (WD). The mass-stripping attenuates the rate of mass transfer from the companion to the WD. As a result, quite a massive MS companion can avoid forming a common envelope to increase the WD mass up to the SN Ia explosion. Properly formulating the mass-stripping effect, we follow binary evolutions of the WD + MS systems and obtained a parameter region where SNe Ia are resulted in the initial donor mass – binary orbital period plane. The newly obtained SN Ia region extends to the donor mass up to 6 − 7 M⊙, although its extension depends on the efficiency of mass-stripping effect. The stripped matter would mainly be distributed on the orbital plane and form very massive circumbinary matter around the SN Ia progenitor. It can explain the circumstellar matter around SNe Ia/IIn(IIa) 2002ic and 2006gj as well as normal SN Ia 2006X. Our new model suggests the presence of very young (. 108 yr) populations of SN Ia progenitors, being consistent with recent observational indications of young population SNe Ia. Subject headings: binaries: close — circumstellar matter — stars: winds, outflows — supernovae: individual (SN2002ic, SN 2005gj, SN 2006X)

Circumstellar Nebulae in Young Supernova Remnants

Supernovae descendent from massive stars explode in media that have been modified by their progenitors’ mass loss and UV radiation. The supernova ejecta will first interact with the circumstellar material shed by the progenitors at late evolutionary stages, and then interact with the interstellar material. Circumstellar nebulae in supernova remnants can be diagnosed by their small expansion vel...

Distribution of Ni Yields of Type Ia Supernovae and Implications for Progenitors

The amount of Ni produced in type Ia supernova (SN Ia) explosion is probably the most important physical parameter underlying the observed correlation of SN Ia luminosities with their light curves. Based on an empirical relation between the Ni mass and the light curve parameter △m15, we obtained rough estimates of the Ni mass for a large sample of nearby SNe Ia with the aim of exploring the div...

Young Core Collapse Supernova Remnants and Their Supernovae

Massive star supernovae can be divided into four categories depending on the amount of mass loss from the progenitor star and the star’s radius: red supergiant stars with most of the H envelope intact (SN IIP), stars with some H but most lost (IIL, IIb), stars with all H lost (Ib, Ic), and blue supergiant stars with a massive H envelope (SN 1987A-like). Various aspects of the immediate aftermat...

Predicting the Presence of Companions for Stripped-envelope Supernovae: The Case of the Broad-lined Type Ic SN 2002ap

Many young, massive stars are found in close binaries. Using population synthesis simulationswe predict the likelihood of a companion star being present when these massive stars end their lives as core-collapse supernovae (SNe). We focus on stripped-envelope SNe, whose progenitors have lost their outer hydrogen and possibly helium layers before explosion. We use these results to interpret new ...
